In 2026, RIXC aims to establish a long-term transdisciplinary platform for developing and testing climate-oriented artistic methods grounded in ecological and social conditions. This residency programme consolidates RIXC’s dual urban–rural infrastructure into a coherent working model, strengthening its capacity to host extended ecological research and deepening its focus on climate-related artistic production.
The programme consists of residencies hosting artists working in parallel with Latvian and international artists. The rural part of the program is based in the RIXC Fields site in the Talsi region, offering direct access to agricultural land, orchard and meadow ecosystems, forest and wetland areas, greenhouse facilities, a pond, and workshop spaces. Ecological fieldwork is combined with access to RIXC’s gallery, studio, and XR Lab in Riga. The urban part of the program is Riga-based with integrated field access to the rural site. Both residency blocks enable movement between technological production and ecological immersion.
Artists will be selected through open calls, strengthening exchange across shared climatic zones and fostering cross-regional dialogue on environmental transformation. The extended structure between rural and urban sites supports collaborative experimentation and contributes to sustained networks beyond the residency period.
